This morning, the Edmonton Oilers let Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway walk after an offer sheet from the St. Louis Blues.

There were lots of rumors surrounding what the Oilers were going to do in this situation. However, the Oilers ultimately chose the path of least resistance, and now, Holloway and Broberg will have a fresh start in the Mid-West of the United States.

Meanwhile, the Blues and the Oilers were not done making moves. Below, you can see that the Blues gave the Oilers Paul Fischer and a third-round pick in exchange for future considerations. It seems like a consolation prize, although we're sure the Oilers will take anything they can get right now.

Only time will tell what the Edmonton Oilers decide to do next. After making the Stanley Cup Finals this past season, their roster is in the midst of being gutted. Meanwhile, they now have to figure out their cap situation as Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid will need to get some new deals.

This is not the best situation to be in, but that is why the Oilers hired General Manager Stan Bowman. They believe in his vision to make things work and bring this team to the promised land, which is a sixth Stanley Cup in franchise history.
