Last night, Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid went down with an injury that has a lot of fans worried about the team's future.
The injury took place off of the opening faceoff. As you can see, McDavid went down awkwardly into the boards and it was one of those plays that fans knew was bad, right away. Eventually, McDavid got up under his own power and he immediately marched himself to the bench, where he was eventually taken out of the game for good.
After the game, the media spoke to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who had some strong words for his teammates after their poor performance. As he pointed out, more guys need to start stepping up.
"Yeah, I mean of course. he's our leader, and also the best player in the game. Of course, you're going to feel it. We got to do a better job of stepping up when a guy like that goes down, though."
The Oilers are in disarray right now and things are not getting any better. If you are a fan of the team, you can't help but feel at least a little bit hopeless right now. Only time will tell just how bad the injury is.
