The hit from Hayes was actually quite light and was not nefarious whatsoever. However, the result of the hit was quite severe as Engaras was flung into the boards and landed in an awkward fashion that clearly hurt his backside. Overall, it was very tough to watch and Engaras was down for quite a while.
In fact, the medical team had to come out with a stretcher so that they could transport Engaras out of the arena. He was then taken to the hospital for further evaluation. Given the way Engaras had fallen and was laid up, there was quite a bit of concern about how this may affect his career.
Thankfully, Engaras just gave an update on his condition, and it is an update that will make a lot of fans excited. Below, you can see that the Comets star even recorded a video for all of the fans out there. In the video, he noted that he was back home and was eager to get back onto the ice.
For now, it is unclear as to when exactly Engaras will be returning to hockey. However, the fact that he is able to make this video and looks healthy, is pretty miraculous. We are wishing him the best, moving forward.
