Family of Toronto Maple Leafs prospect suffers tragic loss
More sad news today from the hockey world. Today it was announced that the father of Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Roni Hirvonen and TPS Turku Legend Timo Hirvonen had passed away.
Timo spent 14 seasons playing pro in his native Finland. In those 14 seasons in Liiga, Hirvonen suited up for Kiekko-Espoo/Espoo Blues and SaiPa. He scored 98 goals and added 117 assists in 607 games
Upon retiring, Hirvonen turned to coaching, where he worked with the Espoo Blues for 9 seasons. Our thoughts are with Hirvonen's family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
