This week, Patrice Bergeron announced his retirement from professional hockey after 19 years in the NHL. Bergeron spent his entire NHL career with the Boston Bruins, never donning another jersey. Throughout his career that Bergeron had dreams of returning home to Montreal to potentially finish his hockey career, but Bergeron confirmed he never had any interest in wearing the Canadiens jersey.

According to Bergeron after putting on the Bruins jersey he only ever wanted to wear one other jersey during his career. Bergeron recently revealed what that jersey was.
There is only one other jersey that I ever wanted to wear, and that is the Canadian jersey. Representing my country at the highest level - especially winning Gold in Vancouver and Sochi are also some of my proudest moments.

Bergeron was a key contributor on Team Canada, but due to the NHL's refusal to play in the last two Olympics Bergeron was limited to the number of opportunities he was given to wear the red Maple Leaf. Bergeron did however win back-to-back gold medals at the Olympics, a World Cup of Hockey title in 2016, a World Junior gold medal and a World Championship gold medal while representing his country.
Bergeron his also a member of Canada's Triple Gold Club and is the only player in IIHF history to win a World Championship Gold Medal before a World Junior gold medal.
Congratulations on a very successful career Patrice!
