After several weeks on the free agent market, Vladimir Tarasenko finally signed a one-year contract with the Ottawa Senators on Thursday evening. While Tarasenko options to join a pair of Cup contenders in Florida and Carolina, he felt as though joining the Sens was the best fit for him. It wasn't all smiles for the Russian forward this summer, however, as new reports are emerging that Tarasenko's agent cost him tens of millions before Tank fired him.

According to Bally Sports' Andy Strickland, Tarasenko had multiple bids for his services from several teams, who made higher offers for him than he ended up signing for on a one-year deal. Even Ottawa initially offered a multi-year deal at the same salary.

Told Vlad Tarasenko had a four-year offer at $5.5 m per season from Ottawa early in free agency. Had 1 year offers from Carolina at $5.25M and San Jose, 1 yr at $6M #GoSensGo #sjsharks #Letsgocanes - Strickland on the offers turned down by Tarasenko's former agent

Five days into free agency, Tarasenko, unhappy with the work of his representative, fired his first agent. It has also been reported that it was Tarasenko's first choice to stay with the Rangers. Unfortunately, his agent fumbled the ball there and Tarasenko became a cap casualty in New York.

I'm sure that Tarasenko is happy to be signed now and will now turn his attention away from the $22,000,000 in guaranteed money that he missed out on and towards the upcoming season.
