Teemu Selanne recalls insane story involving his wife and Jets GM
Teemu Selanne is a legendary player who made a name for himself on numerous teams, primarily the Winnipeg Jets.
During the early stages of his career, Selanne was known for lighting the lamp often. Therefore, slumps were few and far between. However, when he was on a slump, his former GM, Mike Smith would never let him forget it.
While on Spittin' Chiclets, Selanne recounted a ridiculous story in which Smith went up to his girlfriend, now wife, and asked her if she knew where Moncton was. Why? Well, it all has to do with Moncton being the home of the franchise's farm team. Moreover, Selanna was on a two-game goalless drought and Smith wanted to motivate him.
The motivation worked as Selanna would go on to score seven goals over the coming games. Clearly, going to Moncton was not going to be in the cards.
