Mark Giordano makes truly baffling career decision
Mark Giordano is a defenseman with a lot of mileage on him especially when you consider the fact that he is 40 years old.
However, there is no doubt that Giordano is a fighter. He had a bad season in 2023/24, only suiting up for 46 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Additionally, he only managed a total of 9 points. However, it was revealed today that Giordano has made a decision about his future.
"Mark has made the decision that he's playing for a few more years," Giordano's agent Rich Winter told The Toronto Star. "He feels very confident. He's been talking to a lot of people who tell him: Don't quit until they make you."
For now, Giordano does not have a contract in place for next year. He could certainly get a PTO, but nothing is guaranteed. Retirement is still on the table, although it seems like he would rather avoid that decision for at least another couple of seasons.
