Evander Kane was suffering numerous issues during the Stanley Cup Finals, and now that the season is over, there is even less clarity on what is happening.

In a new report from The Hockey News, it was noted just how bad the situation is getting. The Oilers want to put him on Long Term Injured Reserve, but Kane is refusing. To make matters worse, Kane has a no-trade clause, and he does not want to waive that either.
To top it all off, Kane is making $5.125 million per year, which is simply untenable if he can't even suit up to play. At this stage, the Oilers need Kane to play ball here, otherwise, the situation could get a whole lot worse, and it's already pretty bad.
"What makes him such a wild card is that it's hard to read from day to day and interview to interview where Kane stands health wise. CEO Jeff Jackson mentioned an 'issue with his hip,' and the nature of his injury and recovery path remains unclear. Meanwhile, Kane called it a 'sports hernia' that was bugging him most of last season. Is it a hip? Is it a hernia? Is it a bit of both? Do either keep him out to the point he's unreliable?"
