While the Calgary Flames and the Winnipeg Jets might be divisional rivals, it would appear as though both teams have players that the other would be heavily interested in.

In a report from NHL Trade Rumors, the case was made that the Jets could give up their prospect Rutger McGroarty. McGroarty has committed to the NCAA and it is clear that his time with the Jets has been less than fruitful. Meanwhile, the Flames have shown interest in moving their defenseman Rasmus Andersson.
"For the Jets, acquiring a player of Andersson's caliber could be a game-changer," the report reads. "As a right-shot defenseman, Andersson brings the kind of stability and two-way play that could complement Winnipeg's defensive core. Pairing him with Josh Morrissey or Dylan Samberg would give the Jets a formidable top-four that could anchor the team's blue line for years to come."

Having said that, the Jets are going to have to think long and hard about what else they would have to give up. Andersson for McGroarty is not going to happen in a one-for-one deal. Instead, it is going to have to include some picks and maybe even a roster player. That said, there is no indication this kind of deal is being discussed. However, it is simply a possibility based on the needs of both teams.
Do you believe that the Jets and the Flames should do this deal? Let us know in the poll down below. Additionally, stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
