Oliver Kylington stepped away from the NHL last season as he was dealing with mental health struggles.

Eventually, he came back to the Calgary Flames near the end of the season and was able to get some momentum going again. However, he was not able to secure a good contract in the offseason. Instead, he signed with the Colorado Avalanche for just $1 million per year.
In a new report from a Swedish publication, it was revealed that Kylington is now going through some personal issues with his family. In fact, he has completely cut ties with them. However, his comments don't exactly give the full scope of what happened. Instead, his remarks are a bit more ominous.
"No relationship. And that's fine. I feel good about it. As I said, I just want to play hockey and do my thing. And be in the present as much as I can. I don't need any more distractions in my life."

It is more common than you think for famous athletes to cut ties with their family. There are a whole bunch of reasons for why this happens and a lot of it comes down to money. Only time will tell if we will ever know the full extent of what went down here.
Do you believe we will get the full story on what happened here, any time soon? Let us know in the poll below. Additionally, stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
