Alexander Ovechkin is one of the most legendary players in the history of the National Hockey League and he continues to be great at scoring the puck.

However, he is aging and his retirement is on the horizon. He still has two years left on his deal with the Washington Capitals and he is also hunting down Wayne Gretzky for the scoring record. He is 41 goals away which means it is likely he ends up breaking it before his contract is up.
In a new interview today, Ovechkin dropped a bombshell on Capitals fans. While he intends to finish his NHL career with the Capitals, he wants his final season of professional hockey to be in the KHL with Dynamo Moscow.
«I don't look that far ahead,» Ovechkin said. «I still have two years left on my NHL contract. Of course, I want to play my last game for Dynamo, where I started my career. But there's no point in raising this topic right now.»

You can't blame the man for wanting to do this. After all, Russia is his home. Regardless, it will be weird to see Ovi in a different jersey. Hopefully, he feels fulfilled with his career when it is all said and done.
Do you believe that this would be a good move for Ovechkin? Will Ovi break Wayne Gretzky's record? Let us know in the poll down below. Additionally, stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
