Philadelphia Flyers Lock in Travis Konecny with 8-Year Extension

The Philadelphia Flyers have secured a major piece of their future by signing forward Travis Konecny to an eight-year contract extension worth $70 million, translating to an average annual value (AAV) of $8.75 million.

The announcement was made via social media on Thursday afternoon, confirming that the 27-year-old Konecny, who became eligible for a contract extension on July 1st, will have his new deal kick in ahead of the 2025-26 season. This extension cements Konecny's place as a central figure in the Flyers' long-term plans.

Flyers General Manager Danny Briere expressed the organization's excitement over the deal, highlighting Konecny's integral role within the team.

"Travis Konecny is an integral part of the fabric of our team and we are thrilled to have him under contract for the long-term," said Brière. "Travis has grown into a significant leader on our team and he truly embodies what it means to be a Flyer. Konecny, in his remarks, shared his enthusiasm about the new contract and his optimistic outlook for the Flyers' future.

"I couldn't be happier to sign again with the Flyers," said Konecny. "There's such a bright and exciting future with this team and I can't wait to be a part of it for the next nine years and see what we will accomplish. I can't thank all my teammates and staff members enough because this opportunity wouldn't be possible without each and every one of them along the way. The London, Ontario native is coming off a stellar season where he appeared in 76 games and set new career highs in goals and points. Konecny recorded 68 points (33 goals, 35 assists), accumulated 67 penalty minutes, and maintained a plus-four rating.

This extension not only signifies the Flyers' commitment to their core players but also underscores their belief in Konecny's ability to lead the team into a promising future.
