Edmonton Oilers Name Stan Bowman as GM, Shift Focus to Re-Signing Leon Draisaitl

The Edmonton Oilers have officially named Stan Bowman as their new General Manager. With this crucial position filled, the Oilers can now direct their attention towards securing a long-term contract for their superstar forward, Leon Draisaitl, who is entering the final season of his eight-year deal signed in 2017.
During his introductory press conference, Bowman emphasized that re-signing the German star is his top priority.
«Leon is a star player and he's top priority for me,» Bowman said. «I want Leon to be an Oiler for life.»

Bowman acknowledged the exceptional duo of Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, describing them as the best in the league.
«They're the best there is,» Bowman told media. «I think that's a priority, they clearly are a big part of what we're doing They are a huge part of this community, this team, and they are going to be going forward.»

Oilers radio personality Bob Stauffer expressed confidence that Bowman will soon reach an agreement with Draisaitl, ensuring the star forward remains with the team long-term.
Securing Draisaitl is crucial for the Oilers' Stanley Cup aspirations. The 28-year-old has been one of the NHL's top performers for nearly a decade, amassing 850 points (347 goals, 503 assists) in 719 games. Despite his impressive stats, Draisaitl often shares the spotlight with Connor McDavid, the league's best player.
