According to an insider, a prospect for the Calgary Flames who is under contract with the NHL signed an international contract with CSKA, breaking the international transfer prohibition.

Prospect Nikita Okhotyuk of the Calgary Flames signed a two-year contract with CSKA while still under contract with the team, in violation of the international transfer prohibition.

The two-year contract breaks violate the international transfer rule, according to TSN's Darren Dreger, because the player signed a KHL agreement without receiving an official loan from his NHL team while still holding a valid NHL contract. This is comparable to Philadelphia Flyers prospect Ivan Fedetov.

Nikita Okhotyuk has signed a 2 year deal with CSKA. Clearly no concern with the intentional ban that remains in effect.

Sanctions are probably coming from the IIHF because the transfer ban was first implemented in early August of last year and will be in place until at least August of 2026. The following is the transfer ban.

In violation of the IIHF International Transfer Regulations. to allow a player to play without an approved international transfer) and, in violation of his NHL Standard Player Contract (SPC)

We'll see what penalties and fines the IIHF imposes this time, but Fedetov-style measures should apply.
