The PWHL Receives Lots Of Controversy Over Their Newly Released Jerseys
The Professional Women's Hockey League is gearing up for its first season in January 2024, and training camps are kicking off this week.
The recently revealed uniforms, however, haven't quite lived up to expectations. Describing them as underwhelming might be putting it mildly. Each jersey features the city name diagonally across the chest, adopting a style similar to the NHL, with teams opting for dark jerseys at home and light ones on the road.
Stan Kasten, PWHL Advisory Board member, expressed,
"Our original six teams proudly represent some of North America's most-passionate hockey markets. As we build our foundation and grow together this inaugural season, it's important that our markets be a focal point of our identity."
Canadian Tire Corporation, a key league partner, secures exclusive logo placement on the shoulder patches of the league's three Canadian teams.
However, the online response suggests that the fans are not quite pleased with the uniform choices, and it's hard to argue against that sentiment. The PWHL might need to revisit their design strategy.
