We all know that hockey players are creatures of habit. Most players have a specific routine they follow for superstitious reasons, some eat the same pre-game meal and some even have the same warm-up ritual. The one that I'll never understand is a player's unwillingness to upgrade a certain piece of equipment.
I guess, as the saying goes, "if it's not broke, don't fix it", but I'm not sure holding onto the same jockstrap and wearing it for 20+ years is something I'd be overly enthused about. Anyone who plays hockey knows how smelly equipment can get. With the miles he has on that thing... It's a pretty gross superstition.
