Philadelphia Flyers sign another goalie, are they preparing for a Carter Hart suspension?
Today the Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have officially signed goalie Samuel Ersson to a two-year contract extension. The contract, worth $1.45 million annually, kicks in next season as the 23-year-old native of Falun, Sweden is in the final year of his entry-level deal.
Ersson, was selected in the 5th round, 143rd overall in 2018. Ersson has played most of his professional career in North America with the AHL Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He's played 9 games with the Flyers, he has posted a 6-3 record with a GAA of 3.07 and an SV percentage of 0.899.
This signing has increased speculation that Carter Hart could be implicated in the 2018 Canadian World Junior investigation. The findings are expected to be released in the coming days and the Flyers have made multiple moves to ensure their set in goal.
The Flyers also acquired 28-year-old Cal Petersen in a three-team trade which centred around Ivan Provorov who was acquired by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
