Rangers pushing to extend young blueliner this summer
The New York Rangers are a solid team with good depth at all positions, especially on the back end. How an organization builds their blueline can make or break a team and the Rangers appear to be in favour of locking up as many of their young defenders as they can.
According to The Athletic, following the recent 2-year extension for K'Andre Miller, the Rangers are looking at signing defenseman Ryan Lindgren to a team-friendly contract extension as well.
The Rangers hope is that the deal would be long term and the deal would carry a more team friendly cap hit of just over $4 million per season. Of course, there are two sides to every set of negotiations and we'll have to wait and see what the Lindgren camp decides is fair from their perspective.
Lindgren, 25, appeared in 63 games for the Rangers last season scoring 18 points, including 1 goal and 17 assists. Lindgren has spent his entire 5 year career with the Rangers and with them trending in the right direction, the hope is that they can lock him up for the foreseeable future.
