NCAA standout and Coyotes draftee informs the team that he will not sign his ELC and will become a UFA
When the Arizona Coyotes drafted John Farinacci in the 3rd round of the 2019 NHL Draft, they had high hopes for the forward. Farinacci had developed into a point per game player at the NCAA level, but now it appears as though he won't sign with the Coyotes before August 15th and will opt to become a free agent.
Contrary to previous information, John Farinacci had indicated to #Yotes that he will turn pro with another team
He will become a free agent on August 15 unless Arizona trades his rights
The Calgary Flames faced a similar dilemma with Adam Fox, now a star defenseman with the Rangers. The Flames had dealt Fox's rights to the Carolina Hurricanes in the Dougie Hamilton trade. The Hurricanes then flipped Fox to the New York Rangers.
Rumors have linked Farinacci to a number of teams, including the Boston Bruins, who require depth at center and, oddly enough, the Calgary Flames. Farinacci is best friends with Flames' prospect Matthew Coronato, which could lure him to Calgary.
