Insider reveals potential details on Trevor Zegras next deal with the Anaheim Ducks
Earlier this summer the Anaheim Ducks signed Troy Terry to a seven-year contract worth $49,000,000. This was General Manager Pat Verbeek's most important task of the off season. The next most important task is the signing of the team's top player, Trevor Zegras.
Last year, Zegras, 22, scored 23 goals and tallied 65 points in 81 games. The New York native has elite skill and csn often rub people the wrong way.
This week The Daily Faceoffs' Frank Seravalli gave his thoughts on the Zegras contract situation:
Zegras' is likely looking at a long-term deal around $8M AAV, if that number doesn't work for one or both sides, a short-term agreement would likely come in at around $5M AAV.
The Ducks finished in last place of the league last season with a record of 23-47-12. The fanbase and organization have been going through a full rebuild over the last few seasons in Anaheim but the future is bright, the roster is young and built for the future.
However, only bridging Zegras could end up being a huge mistake for the Ducks. If Zegras has an offensive explosion on a bridge deal it could cost the Ducks millions long-term.
