Patrick Roy ended his career as the Head Coach and General Manager of the QMJHL's Quebec Remparts this past spring. Roy did so in incredible fashion, capturing the Memorial Cup, the most prestigious award in all of Canadian Junior Hockey.

After concluding his junior coaching career, Roy has made no concessions and has shared that he wants to return to the National Hockey League in some capacity. Roy has let it be known that he doesn't know whether that will be as a Head Coach or General Manager, and this week, he addressed his desire to return.
The following quotes have been translated from a French interview.
"If the phone ever rings, we will listen. At the moment, there are very good hockey people on each team. At this time of year, all the teams think they are going to win the championship, that's how it works." Roy said

Roy added that if the Ottawa Senators called, that he'd listen to what they have to say. The Senators are set to finalize their new ownership group in early September, which will likely open up the door to a position within the organization for the Hall of Fame goaltender.
"I think Ottawa is a great hockey city like everywhere else. Alain Vigneault told me that there are just 31 positions, 32 now, and that it is a privilege to be part of it. If the phone rings, we'll listen,"

Roy is no stranger to working in the NHL having spent 3 years as the Head Coach of the Colorado Avalanche from 2013 to 2016. Roy won the Jack Adams Award in his first year behind the bench.
