The trade speculation was much more concerning before his no-trade clause kicked in on July 1st. Since that day has passed, Sanheim now has final sign off on any trade. The 27-year-old signed an eight-year, $50 million contract last October.
The Edmonton Oilers are one team who have been looking to bolster their blueline this offseason but, so far, have been unsuccessful. Hockey rumour slinger "Eklund", of HockeyBuzz, believes Sanheim could still be traded before the season begins and that Edmonton would really like to have him if they can make it work.
If Sanheim was presented with an offer to go to Edmonton, I'd imagine he'd have no problem waiving his no-movement clause to join a contending team and to have the chance to play with Connor McDavid, the consensus best player of this generation.
