When Patrice Bergeron officially retired from the NHL this summer, the Boston Bruins were entering their 100th season in the NHL without a captain - but that's changed now.
The Bruins announced this morning that the club has named Bruins veteran Brad Marchand the 27th player in the team history to serve as the captain.
Marchand, now 35 years old, has played the whole of his 14-year NHL career with the Bruins, including winning the Stanley Cup with them in 2011. Across his career, Marchand has played 947 games, totalling 372 goals and an impressive 862 points.
Marchand will be proudly presented to the Bruins faithful for the first time in the regular season when Boston begins their season at home against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 11th.
