Earlier today, Flyers' GM Daniel Briere spoke about the continuing Hockey Canada investigation into a sexual assault committed by members of the 2018 Canada World Juniors team. This investigation especially concerns the Flyers, as the investigation is believed to implicate their starting goalie, Carter Hart.

In his statement, Briere indicated that he personally spoke to Hockey Canada seemingly asking for a status update on the investigation, and when the results will become public. Judging Briere's demeanour, he seems not to have been given a definitive answer.

The investigation is headed by the London Police Department in association with Hockey Canada, and is expected to be closed sometime this fall. Due to the seriousness of the allegations, NHL executives wanted the results sooner, as they might be forced to take disciplinary actions against the accused players - if they are even eligible to remain in the NHL at all.

The Philadelphia Flyers expected Carter Hart to be the goaltender of their future. Now, his career may be over before even his age 25 season. For the NHL and the sport of hockey at large, it seems that finally proper action will be taken against those that use their power and influence as professional athletes to commit abuse and assault.
