400 game NHL vet forced to take professional tryout to keep his career alive
After spending all of last season in the American Hockey League with the Chicago Wolves, it appears that 400-game veteran Ryan Dzingel is trying to make an NHL comeback.
The news was revealed by CapFriendly that the Arizona Coyotes have signed veteran Ryan Dzingel to a professional tryout contract (PTO). Dzingel will join the team for training camp and likely see some time during preseason games in the coming weeks.
"Arizona #Yotes have signed two players to professional try outs.
F - Ryan Dzingel
D - Peter Diliberatore"
Dzingel, 31, has played NHL 404 games over 7 seasons. Dzingel has spent time with the Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Carolina Hurricanes, Arizona Coyotes and San Jose Sharks. In his career he's cored 87 goals and added 101 assists for 188 points.
At this time it appears that Dzingel is playing for his NHL career and this will likely mark his last chance to find himself an NHL contract. Best of luck to Dzingel as he takes on this challenge.
