For the first time in over a month, there's some activity on the waiver wire in the NHL today.
Earlier today, the Arizona Coyotes placed British forward prospect Liam Kirk on unconditional waivers, with the intention of buying out his contract entirely.
"Per source, the Coyotes have placed F Liam Kirk on unconditional waivers. It was a good story while it lasted but Kirk's time in AZ is over." PHNX Sports' Craig Morgan said.
Kirk, only 23 years old, became the first English born and trained player ever drafted when the Coyotes selected him in the seventh round in the 2018 NHL draft.
The Rotherham, England native spent the majority of his 2022-23 season with the ECHL's Atlanta Gladiators and in Finland's Liiga with Jukurit. In his 25 games played with Jukurit, Kirk scored 7 goals and 19 points.
Kirk will continue playing in Europe, as insider Craig Morgan recently shared that he has signed with HC Litvinov in the Czech Extraliga for the 2023-24 season.
