Connor McDavid, captain of the Edmonton Oilers, suffered an injury last night during a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Overall, this was an injury that came at a horrible time as it was right off of the opening faceoff. McDavid went down awkwardly into the boards and appeared to crumple up his ankle. It was a pretty bad sight to see, and Oilers fans were waiting with bated breath.

Well, after the game, head coach Kris Knoblauch made it clear that McDavid would not come on the team's road trip to Nashville. Instead, he would go back home to Edmonton where he would receive some tests on his condition. Not what you want to hear if you support the orange and blue.

In fact, many Oilers fans were in a shambolic state on social media following the news. As you can see down below, there are a ton of fans who were absolutely beside themselves. And it makes sense as to why this is the case. The team has a losing record, they just lost their captain AND they fell 6-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Just poor timing all around.

Needless to say, now is not the best time to be a fan of the Edmonton Oilers. The team is in disarray and without their captain, things are only going to get worse from here on out. But who knows? Maybe the team can surprise people during this stretch.
