Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers went down with an injury today as his team took on the Columbus Blue Jackets.

McDavid was playing the first shift of the game off of the opening faceoff when he went down awkwardly and ended up taking himself out of the game. He was immediately sent back to the locker room, and Oilers fans were extremely worried about what this could all mean, going forward.

The Oilers went on to lose this game by a score of 6-1 which certainly added a whole lot of insult to injury here. It was a pretty brutal result for a team that is supposed to be showcasing superior ability right now. After all, they did make it to the Stanley Cup Finals last year.

Meanwhile, McDavid was given an update by his head coach Kris Knoblauch. It was made crystal clear that McDavid will be out on Thursday as his team takes on the Nashville Predators. They will be on the road in Nashville, meanwhile, McDavid will be back at home in Edmonton looking to get ready.

With this latest update, the Oilers season has certainly gotten a whole lot worse. If you are a fan of the team, you cannot help but feel like everything has just gone to hell in a handbasket. Having said that, we could see something interesting happen very soon in terms of trades or roster moves.
