Connor McDavid is one of the best players in the entire National Hockey League and there is no doubt that Edmonton Oilers fans absolutely adore their captain.

Unfortunately, this season has not been off to the best start for the Edmonton Oilers. They have had quite a few issues with getting it together in the early going. Furthermore, it almost feels like there is some sort of Stanley Cup Finals hangover going on. Whatever the case may be, fans are a bit concerned, and their concern is only going to grow deeper after what just transpired.

Moments ago, Connor McDavid started the game as the Oilers took on the Columbus Blue Jackets. However, McDavid went for a bit of a fall and it looked kind of gnarly. He was able to get up under his own power and he was even able to skate back to the bench. Although, in the end, he was taken out of the game and he will not return.

Overall, this is just very bad news for fans of the Edmonton Oilers. We can only imagine how awful they must be feeling right now given all of this. McDavid is their best player, and need him in order to be successful. If he is unable to go for a prolonged period of time, then we could see things get real ugly fast.

Hopefully, this is all just a precaution and McDavid is able to return sooner rather than later. If the Oilers want to avoid further disaster to start the season, then that is what they are ultimately going to have to hope for.
