Patrik Laine of the Montreal Canadiens sustained a bad injury after being hit in the knee by Cedric Pare of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Moments ago, the Montreal Canadiens confirmed that Laine suffered nothing but a sprained knee. He will be out for two to three months and will not need surgery. This is a huge relief for a whole lot of people, mostly because people thought that Laine might be out with some sort of ACL tear. That would have kept him out all season long, but now, he and the Habs get some much-needed relief.
When you talk about feel-good stories this year, Laine was supposed to be one of them. He had been working exceptionally hard at training camp and in the preseason. Habs players loved him, and while he will return this year, it's going to be harder to find that chemistry again. Only time will tell what happens next.
We are wishing Patrik Laine a speedy recovery during this very difficult time. Laine came into this season motivated to show people what he can do. Instead, he is having to rehab due to a reckless play that has no place in the game. Regardless of the team you may support, you cannot help but feel for him right now.
Are you surprised by the official diagnosis to Patrik Laine? Do you believe that this is good news for the star player?
