Yaroslav Askarov previously demanded a trade from the Nashville Predators and was eventually sent to the San Jose Sharks.

The idea was for Askarov to get a real opportunity to play in the National Hockey League. He is easily one of the best goaltending prospects out there so it seemed pretty obvious that he would end up playing this season. This is especially true as the Sharks are a team that could stand to improve at the position.
Unfortunately, that will not be happening anytime soon for Askarov. Today, it was revealed in a shocking decision that Askarov would be sent down to the AHL, which was his main issue to begin with. Needless to say, the goaltender is back at square one.
Having said that, we're sure Askarov will get an opportunity eventually. After all, the Sharks are a bad team and they may just get tired of their two goaltenders if they perform poorly. Not to mention, Askarov has played well in the AHL and that is expected to continue, even if he has to do it in a different city.
Hopefully, Askarov get that opportunity he has been waiting on. It feels like it is overdue at this point. Luckily, he is still young and has plenty of time to find his footing in the NHL. Now we just hope that he doesn't go out and ask for another trade.
