This has been a point of contention amongst hockey fans for quite some time. However, we now have some clarity on McDavid's controversial decision. Essentially, it all comes down to the fact that he wanted to be with his teammates. Moreover, on the Amazon Prime show "Faceoff," McDavid admits he wouldn't have gone out there even for $1 million. It is easy to see why McDavid would feel this way. Losing the Stanley Cup is a crushing defeat, especially in an emotional moment like a Game 7. While some may see McDavid as disrespecting tradition, others will see it for what it is: a guy who just loves to compete.
