Barclay Goodrow finds out his new team after being claimed on waivers
As of this afternoon, Barclay Goodrow's tenure with the New York Rangers is officially over, as he was claimed off of the waiver wire by the San Jose Sharks. This information was obtained by Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff.
"Sources: #sjsharks claimed Barclay Goodrow off waivers from #NYR.
Rangers get out from Goodrow's final three seasons at $3.64 million without any cap consequences - no buyout or dead cap space necessary.
In 2 hrs, Sharks added Dellandrea and Goodrow to boost competitiveness." He said in a post on X.
In light of the New York Post's scoop from last night, it's not shocking to see that the Sharks are returning to the place where his NHL career started.
Walker revealed last night that the San Jose Sharks and New York Rangers have a deal in place for the Northern California club to claim Goodrow off the waiver wire today.
"Though there is belief there is a pre-arranged deal for the Sharks to claim Goodrow, who spent the first six seasons of his NHL career in San Jose." Walker said.
The 31-year-old Goodrow played with the San Jose Sharks for a portion of his first six NHL seasons before switching to the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he won two Stanley Cups, and finally the New York Rangers.
Goodrow's output had a difficult season this past season. He played 78 penalty minutes, finished with 12 points (four goals, eight assists), and was minus-13 in 80 games. During the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Goodrow also scored eight goals and had two assists in 16 games played. The native of Toronto still has three years left on his deal, which has a modified no-trade clause and a $3.641 million cap cost.
