New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe was recently sent back down to the Hartford Wolf Pack following a stretch in which he was not getting playing time.

For a lot of fans, Rempe is simply not being given a chance to prove himself. One of the issues with Rempe is that he is seen as more of a goon than anything else. The Rangers do not trust Rempe on offense and on the defensive side of the puck, he can be a liability. All of these factors have ultimately led to Rempe being a fringe NHLer.

Now, the Rangers have revealed who Rempe's replacement will be. That player just so happens to be Jake Leschyshyn. Leschyshyn played 77 games with the Las Vegas Golde Knights and so far, he has only played one game with the Rangers. However, that is all about to change.

It is going to be interesting to see how this all shakes out for the Rangers. Leschyshyn is a player who can score, but he won't be expected to do much in his new role. After all, he is a player from the AHL who is meant to replace a guy who couldn't put the puck in the net.

As for Rempe, he will need to show people that he can still play at a high level. If he doesn't do that, then he could be in some big trouble moving forward. He has two career points in the NHL in 19 games. For a team that wants to contend for a title, Rempe needs to be better than that.
