Dmitry Orlov is believed to be leaving for Russia soon
Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Dmitry Orlov could very well be heading back to his home country of Russia when he contract with the Hurricanes runs out.
This information comes from a Russian journalist by the name of Arthur Khairullin. He is pretty tapped in with Russian hockey players and he claims that Orlov is very much interested in playing for SKA St. Petersburg with his good friend Evgeny Kuznetsov.
"He missed the beginning of the season, but confidently returned to the lineup, plays 25 minutes per game and shows himself to be an absolutely ready defenseman for the first two pairs of Carolina. After this season, he should replace Dmitry Orlov in the Hurricanes lineup, who will most likely sign with SKA."
Kuznetsov has actually spoken on the possibility of playing with Orlov in the past. In fact, he seems to believe that it is almost a done deal that his good friend is going to come join him, very soon. Needless to say, it would turn SKA into even more of a powerhouse than they already are.
"I think it won't be long," Kuznetsov said then. "I think we'll reunite next year (laughs). It's a joke. It's always nice with Dima, we communicate well. He knows the real Zhenya Kuznetsov. He is one of the few people I can share with. We are in constant contact. In a year, I hope [he comes]. This is my wish and that of another person"
