LeBron James reacts to the tragic death of Johnny Gaudreau & his brother Matthew
Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau were killed last night in a tragic incident in which they were struck by a car while riding bicycles.
The incident took place just outside of their hometown of Salem, New Jersey. Furthermore, it was recently revealed that the motorist was arrested and charged with two counts of driving under the influence and death by auto.
Now, major figures in the sports world are speaking out about what happened. The latest to do so is none other than LeBron James, who replied to a friend on Twitter. As you can see, LeBron was truly devastated by what was reported.
"Insane man! I instantly got so down and sad after reading the story. My thoughts and prayers goes out to the Gaudreau family! May Johnny and Matthew fly high, guide/guard and bless their family/s from the heavens above."
The Columbus Blue Jackets confirmed the news about Gaudreau this morning with a statement on Twitter. It was all incredibly heartbreaking, and there is no doubt that the two brothers are going to be missed.
"Johnny played the game with great joy which was felt by everyone that saw him on the ice. He brought a genuine love for hockey with him everywhere he played from Boston College to the Calgary Flames to Team USA to the Blue Jackets. He thrilled fans in a way only Johnny Hockey could. The impact he had on our organization and our sport was profound, but pales in comparison to the indelible impression he made on everyone who knew him. Johnny embraced our community when he arrived two years ago, and Columbus welcomed him with open arms. We will miss him terribly and do everything that we can to support his family and each other through this tragedy."
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gaudreau family during this incredibly difficult time. We hope that the family gets the support that they need from their community.
