Overall, his rookie season was shortened by a few games due to a jaw injury. It was a hard situation to navigate but Bedard was still able to be successful in his debut season. He had over 20 goals and his highlight reel was pretty extensive. There is no telling if he will face the sophomore slump or not, but fans are definitely excited to see where he will go this year.
Recently, Bedard was interviewed by the league, and he was asked some fascinating questions. One such question involved who his dream linemate would be. While Bedard could have answered someone like Connor McDavid or even Alexander Ovechkin, he opted for someone different.
As you will see above, Bedard claimed that Mat Barzal is actually the player he would love to play with some day. Barzal is with the New York Islanders and is certainly a talented player. However, as Bedard explains, his reasoning is mostly personal as Bedard skated with Barzal when the Blackhawks star was still very young.
This is a pretty good reason and it shows that Bedard has a deep respect for those who helped him get to where he is now. Only time will tell whether or not Barzal and Bedard ever share the ice with each other. It is a long shot but you never know.
