We have some sad news to report out of the hockey world tonight as it was reported by Hockey Worldwide that former Russian defenseman Yegor Sorokin has passed away.

Sorokin was a player who mostly played in the Russian minor leagues. He played in the MHL, a league that can be compared to the CHL in Canada. Moreover, he played in the VHL, which is essentially the KHL's version of the AHL. While he never made an impact in the main professional leagues, he certainly had the love and affection of his teammates.

"Sorokin scored 9 (4+5) points in 92 games in the VHL for Ariada Volzhsk 🇷🇺, Molot-Prikamie Perm 🇷🇺, Gornyak Uchaly 🇷🇺, and CSK VVS Samara 🇷🇺, from 2016-2021."

This is an incredibly sad story and one we have been reporting on all too often as of late. These last couple of months have proven to be incredibly difficult for the game of hockey. We hope everyone is kind to one another, moving forward. It's always important to remember that during these times.

Our heart goes out to Sorokin and his family. We hope they are able to get all of the support love and care that they need.
