Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau tragically passed away at the end of August in a car accident where a drunk driver hit them as they were riding their bikes near Salem, New Jersey.

Overall, this is one of the most horrific tragedies in contemporary hockey history. It is unfathomable that these two amazing young men have passed away. Now that the NHL season is here, many teams are conducting beautiful tributes to the brothers. Of course, the Calgary Flames are one of them as Gaudreau was a superstar on the team for many years.
Prior to the game, Gaudreau's parents and sisters filmed a special message for Calgary fans. As you can see, the family is together. They addressed the Flames and their fans directly, noting just how special they are in their hearts. It was a really beautiful thing to see and we're sure the fans and players appreciated the words immensely.
This kind of message to the fans must have taken tremendous strength and courage to pull off. The family has been through so much and they really did not have to bare their souls like this. In many ways, this felt unnecessary as the family is still grieving. But it just shows how much they love Calgary and its fans.
Our heart continues to go out to the Gaudreau family during this very difficult time. We cannot imagine what the family must be going through right now. We hope they know that the entire hockey world. is behind them right now. No matter what, the hockey community will always be there to support them.
