Overall, the team has underachieved and many are hoping that MacKinnon can help change that. Of course, the return of Gabriel Landeskog would certainly help to a degree but it still remains to be seen when he would be able to come back to the roster.
Last night, the Avalanche played against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and in the end, it was the Blue Jackets who came out on top. The Blue Jackets won by a score of 6-4, although we did see MacKinnon score while on the Power Play. You can see that goal, below.
Perhaps the most memorable highlight from MacKinnon last night was when he had a temper tantrum while on the bench. He was angered by the calls made by the referees and it led to some pretty severe words on the bench and even a broken stick.
Eventually, the referees called could and MacKinnon was given a 10-minute misconduct for the way he carried himself throughout the situation. It was a pretty brutal situation but it was near the end of the game, when things were already lost for the Avalanche. Either way, it is clear that this team needs some help, especially in goal.
