Following the Edmonton Oilers' decision to place goalie Jack Campbell on waivers and subsequently assign him to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors, there has been a flurry of speculation and anticipation among fans and analysts regarding potential trade targets. The hope is that General Manager Ken Holland can swiftly address the team's goaltending needs.

Various trade possibilities have been floated, particularly involving teams like the Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings, both of which currently boast three goalies and might be open to making a move. Despite discussions with Montreal regarding Jake Allen, as reported by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, there is a lack of any imminent developments.

Additional rumors have connected the Oilers to goalies such as Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues and Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers. However, the complexity involved in orchestrating these transactions suggests that such moves might be challenging to execute.

In a surprising twist, insider Kevin Weekes proposed a bold trade scenario during an appearance on OverDrive. Weekes expressed a willingness to

"move heaven and earth"
to acquire Jeremy Swayman for the Oilers, emphasizing his commitment by humorously stating he would
"pay the moon, the stars, and the sun"
and even consider involving one of the three wisemen in the deal (as per his remarks at the 36th minute of the video).

Interestingly, this isn't the first time Swayman's name has surfaced in connection with the Oilers. Preceding the start of the season, rumors circulated that Holland had inquired with the Boston Bruins about the availability of Swayman and fellow goaltender Linus Ullmark. Swayman eventually agreed to a one-year arbitration deal worth $3.475 million during the summer negotiations. While the Bruins might have explored trade interest at that time, the idea of the Oilers pursuing Swayman seems unexpected and ambitious, mirroring what Weekes would advocate if he were in Holland's position in Edmonton.
