The careers of all those involved in the pending legal issues involving five players from the 2018 Canadian junior team will probably be derailed until court proceedings have taken place and the matter is resolved; however, if rumours are to be believed, at least one player may be attracting interest from a KHL team.
Mettalurg is showing a lot of interest in 287 NHL games veteran Michael McLeod. If he signs, he could have to overcome various obstacles before he can play for that team in the future season. To make matters worse, if Mettalurg advances far enough in the KHL playoffs, he would have to return to North America, which could provide a challenge.
Since the beginning, it has been clear that the circumstances surrounding the five people involved are extremely complicated. Given that their careers are probably over in North America pending the outcome of the unresolved court cases, it is possible that we won't see them play hockey anytime soon, even in a foreign league.
Is there any chance that McLeod and the others will be able to move on with their careers while the situation remains unsettled and looms large over them? Anything can happen if the KHL has contacted you.
