The Columbus Blue Jackets fired head coach Pascal Vincent after just one season, ushering in the new Don Waddell era for the group.

Pascal Vincent has lost his job as the Columbus Blue Jackets' head coach after just one complete season. The 52-year-old has been let go by the team, as per their announcement.

Don Waddell, the recently appointed general manager, issued the statement. With the Columbus Blue Jackets, this is the first significant choice of his career.

"I spent time with Pascal over the past few weeks, I found him to be an outstanding person and smart hockey coach who worked very hard last year under trying circumstances, but I believe a change behind the bench is in our team's best interest. On behalf of the organization I want to thank Pascal for his work ethic, professionalism and contributions during his three seasons with the Blue Jackets."

Columbus went 27-43-12 under Vincent last season. Vincent can't be blamed for the team's struggles. Vincent was only hired after Mike Babcock was let go by the Blue Jackets coach after off ice allegations finally caught up to him.

"'No one has a nice thing to say about the guy he got what he deserved.'

The OverDrive guys discuss Mike Babcock being out as Head Coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets."

Waddell stated he will start the search for a new head coach right away. Vincent was the third head coach canned by the Blue Jackets since April of 2023.
