One of the Toronto Maple Leafs' forwards is reportedly being traded as they try to strengthen their lineup for the 202425 campaign. Calle Jarnkrok, a Swedish forward, seems to be on the Toronto Maple Leafs' radar this summer, and he has reportedly had discussions regarding a trade with an Atlantic Division opponent.
With a little more than $18 million in cap space heading into the summer, the Maple Leafs could look to add Chris Tanev or Brandon Montour to bolster their blue line. Since Brad Treliving's top goal this summer will probably be defense, he might decide to add a few players on league minimum contracts or younger players on entry-level contracts to round out his forward group.
Jarnkrok, 32, signed a two-year contract with a $2.1 million cap hit with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the summer of 2022 as an unrestricted free agency. If they are successful in moving him, they may be able to use that $2.1 million in other ways, like signing a well-known defenseman when he becomes a free agent on July 1.
The native of Gavle made 52 appearances for the Maple Leafs this season, scoring 21 points (11 goals, 11 assists), logging 18 penalty minutes, and finishing plus-16. In addition, he skated in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games without scoring any goals.
Maple Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving will have his hands full this summer as he looks to improve his team for a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2025.
