If reports are true, Connor Hellebuyck's time with the Winnipeg Jets might be coming to an end sooner rather than later. According to multiple reports Hellebuyck has already informed the Jets that he has no intention of signing a new contract with the club, and he would welcome a fresh start this season. This request has left the Jets in an odd situation, with multiple free agents, unwilling to sign new deals.

Since the initial report, rumours have swirled about the potential landing spot for the 2019-20 Vezina Trophy winner. On Thursday, he was once again linked to the New Jersey Devils.
"But you can't argue what Connor Hellebuyck has done. He has been up there with Andrei Vasilevskiy as one of the best goalies in the NHL in the past five years. He wants to go win a Cup, I don't know if it means a $9 million extension, but he's got this year, New Jersey scream that for me." NHL Network's Mike Rupp said.
Hellebuyck, 30, has been one of the league's best goaltenders for a number of years now. He's kept the Jets in games, they had no business being in otherwise. Hellebuyck is set for a massive payday next year. One that certainly, won't be in Winnipeg.
New Jersey and Winnipeg seem like perfect trade partners, as New Jersey has lots of depth in goal with Vitek Vanecek and Akira Schmid, as well as prospects Nico Daws and Tyler Brennan. Adding Hellebuyck would likely force the Devils to part with one of those prospects in any deal with the Jets.
The Devils' window to contend for a Stanley Cup is just opening and an opportunity to add a goaltender like Hellebuyck doesn't come around very often and would make them one of the immediate favorites to win the Stanley Cup.
