Last week, it was revealed that after 16 years as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, that Jonathan Toews was stepping away from the NHL to focus on his health. Toews, 35, has been very vocal about his battle with long COVID. The illness caused him to miss the entire 2020-2021 season due to crippling symptoms.
Despite stepping away from the games for a year, Toews isn't ready to consider retirement just yet. Toews shared he plans on returning to the NHL next year and when he does return, he would fit in nicely on the Boston Bruins roster.
Toews is a strong two-way center, and in his career he as amassed 372 career goals and 511 career assists. With both Patrice Bergeron and David Krejč� having announced their retirements in the last month, Toews' would be a perfect fit.
