The NHL season is set to begin in just over 2 months, with players beginning to report much sooner. With the season just around the corner there are still a long list of everyday NHL players without a contract.

Among those prominent players include Patrick Kane, Tomas Tatar, Jonathan Toews, Josh Bailey, just to name a few. But there are also depth players in search of their new homes, that includes 27-year-old forward Pius Suter.

Suter could be prime candidate to be offered a professional try-out contract but there is at least one time interested in jumping to the head of the line and offering Suter a deal.

Reports are now linking Suter as a possible fit with the Calgary Flames.

Suter, a native of Zurich, came over to the NHL for the shortened 2021 season, after he signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks. At the end of his rookie campaign in the NHL, the Blackhawks decided not to qualifying him, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Suter then signed a two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings. In 79 games last season, Suter put up 24 points (14 goals, ten assists), six penalty minutes and was a minus-three.
