Historic Moment For Women In Hockey Tonight
History will be made in Calgary tonight as the Seattle Kraken have invited Coachella Valley Firebirds assistant coach, Jessica Campbell to be a member of their coaching staff tonight. The Kraken are facing the Flames in preseason action.
Seattle Kraken will welcome @Firebirds assistant coach, Jessica Campbell behind the bench tonight at @ClimateArena for the matchup against Calgary.
She is believed to be the first woman to coach an NHL game.
Women have been behind an NHL bench before in trainer roles but never in a coaching role. Campbell will be the first woman to coach a game in the league.
Campbell was hired in July 2022 as an assistant coach of the Coachella Valley Firebirds. She became the first woman behind a bench as a full-time coach in the AHL.
Congrats to Jessica Campbell on this historic milestone.
