Former top 20 pick forced to accept professional tryout to keep NHL dream alive
When the New York Islanders picked Kieffer Bellows with the 19th overall in the 2016 Draft, they expected the physical left winger to make a real difference. Unfortunately after 4 seasons with the team, Bellows never reached his full potential.
Bellows was placed on waivers and claimed by the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers left Bellows unqualified at the beginning of the offseason. Bellows became a free agent. Today Bellows finally found himself a potential home.
The #Canes have signed forwards Kieffer Bellows and Jayden Halbgewachs to professional tryouts.
The two join Cory Conacher, Brendan Perlini, Nick Shore, and defenseman Nathan Beaulieu as PTOs coming to Carolina's training camp.
In his career Bellows has played 95 games, scoring 14 goals and adding 14 assists. If Bellows is unable to find a spot with the Hurricanes it is very likely be could find his NHL career in real jeopardy.
